About Us

The Department of Digital Game Design offers an integrated curriculum that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop innovative and creative projects in the field of game development and design. In our department, game production is not approached merely as a technical process but is also considered a cultural, artistic, and interdisciplinary field of creation.

In our modern PC laboratories and the specially designed Game Room for the students of the Department of Digital Game Design, students gain skills in the core areas of the game design process, including game mechanics, creative coding, level design, 2D and 3D graphic design, character design, modelling, narrative techniques, and visual aesthetics. Thanks to our art-focused approach, our department aims to nurture designers who are not only technically proficient but also possess a strong aesthetic vision and the ability to create imaginative worlds.

Our curriculum is enriched with various activities that support industry connections and creative production environments. Within this scope, three main event series are organized:

  • Game Talks consist of talks and workshops featuring guests invited from academia, art and creative industries. These sessions provide students with the opportunity to learn from experts specializing in areas such as game art, music, design, social sciences, narrative, and visual culture.
  • Dev-Meets encompasses gatherings that bring the game industry directly to campus. Local and international game studios, independent developers, and industry professionals are brought together with students, creating direct engagement opportunities to explore networking, career paths, production practices, and team structures.
  • Game On focuses on social and interactive events centred around the gaming experience. Through in-class and extracurricular gatherings, mini tournaments, and collaborative gaming sessions, students are encouraged to share and experience gaming culture together.

Internationalization is among the key priorities of our department. Our students are encouraged to participate in Erasmus mobility programs, gaining the opportunity to study at universities worldwide and enrich their cultural experience. In addition, they are guided toward double-major and minor programs in fields such as software engineering, computer engineering, architecture, communication and design, and animation, thereby supporting the interdisciplinary nature of game design.

In this regard, the mission of our department is to equip students with both technical and artistic skills, enabling them to develop innovative and original projects in the gaming industry. Our vision is to evolve into a production-oriented centre of game development that connects students with industry professionals and offers internship and employment opportunities.
