One of the most vibrant sections of the Games for Change 2025 Istanbul event, hosted by Bahçeşehir University, was the Arcade area, which showcased a variety of innovative and impactful games. Among these, one of the standout titles was “Monkey Business,” developed by Research Assistant Orhan Yavuz Erhan and his team, all consisting of students from Bahçeşehir University’s Game Design Master’s Program.
Originally created during a Game Jam organized as part of the European Game Science Lab 2025 – Biases in Games, Monkey Business quickly captured attention and evolved into a more ambitious project. Its presentation in the Games for Change Arcade drew significant interest from visitors; many attendees expressed excitement and eagerness for the game’s full release.
Monkey Business is designed as a satirical third-person action game centered around carrying out orders within an oppressive regime in a fictional universe. With its blend of humor and critique, the game encourages players to reflect on authority, obedience, and societal structures.
Within the team, Orhan Yavuz Erhan played a key role by leading the project’s development while also contributing to 3D production and game design, shaping both the visual identity and gameplay mechanics. The other master’s students in the team supported the project with contributions in 2D art, development, sound design, and narrative, helping transform Monkey Business into a cohesive and memorable experience.
Achieving remarkable success in the Games for Change 2025 Istanbul Arcade, Monkey Business became one of the most talked-about projects of the event thanks to its creative concept and strong collaborative development process.
