GAMETALKS #11: SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR A BETTER FUTURE: GAMES FOR CHANGE TÜRKİYE

The eleventh GameTalks event organized by the Digital Game Design Department took place on Wednesday, November 26, featuring guest speakers Zeynep Burcu Kaya Alpan (Arcade Coordinator) and Meral Didar Ağlaç (Program Coordinator) from Games for Change Türkiye.

The speakers introduced the mission and global scope of Games for Change, sharing how the organization supports the creation of games that drive social impact. They discussed the ways games can serve as powerful tools for education, awareness, sustainability, and social transformation, providing students with meaningful real-world examples from both international and Turkey-based projects.

In the first part of the event, Meral Didar Ağlaç offered an overview of the Games for Change framework, its fields of activity, and its global initiatives, helping students understand the organization’s broader vision. Following this, Burcu Kaya Alpan focused on meaningful game design, offering practical insights on how to develop games aimed at creating positive impact. She illustrated her points with examples from large-scale international projects as well as ongoing initiatives in Türkiye, giving students concrete ideas they could apply to their own design processes.

Students attending the event had the opportunity to engage in an interactive Q&A session, asking questions about Games for Change projects, socially impactful game design, and global collaboration networks.
